Will can Crawl!!

I said I would post soon about him crawling and we are finally there!! He took his first official crawl up on all fours at his grandparents house on Sunday the 20th. I could not be more proud of him. He is all over the place now - my life just got more complicated - lol! He also has mastered pulling himself up and sitting back down again. He tries to pull up on everything so we have to watch him close. He thinks all things are safe to pull up on - but that isn't always the case! He is just growing up too fast :)

Oceanside Vacation

We got to spend all of last week cruising up and down the coast in California!! We flew out on the 20th and got back on the 28th. Jake's parents were gracious enough to have us for the week and we absolutely had a blast! Jake and I went canoeing in the ocean on a Hawaiian kayak that Bert and Sandee helped to build. We got close to the sea lions and were out on the water for about an hour. Will got to experience the sand and water of the beach as well. He wasn't too sure about the sand at first. He would stick his hand in it and then take it out again. It was funny. He also could not get used to the sand moving underneath him when he tried to crawl. When I sat with him in the water he thought it was the biggest pool ever and just splashed and splashed! It was fun to watch him play.

We also went and did a ton of touristy stuff like San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and Hollywood. It was neat to see all the stars the walk of fame and all the hand prints in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. I of course had to stick my hand in a few! We didn't see any famous people though - boo! The zoo was great too. They had a lot more natural type habitats than the zoo here and a few different animals like the panda bears and the gorillas. And of course Shamu was a cool show at Sea World. I even suckered Bert into riding a water ride with me! He was a trooper. My favorite part of Sea World was the Sea Lion and Otter show. It was really cute.

Sandee also took us to Point Loma to see an old lighthouse and we got a great view of part of a submarine naval base. Also in the distance you could see the mountains in Mexico. How cool is that. It was a beautiful view and if you listened closely you could hear the sea lions in the water. We also got to tour Bert's work and he got to show off his grandbaby! Camp Pendelton is a beautiful base and we are proud of what he does for our country.

We also celebrated our 2nd anniversary while there. Bert and Sandee watched Will for us so that we could enjoy a night out. We had a hot date night at this awesome restaraunt that overlooked the ocean and then we walked along the beach barefoot afterwards. It was really romantic. I love being married to such a great guy. I really am lucky.

We had a wonderful vacation and we were sad to be going home but glad to be home once we got there. Will did great on the plane rides and all throughout the trip. We had him on the go pretty much the entire time and I am proud of how well he did. We love you Bert and Sandee and thanks for letting us come visit! Here are a ton of photos of our family vacation:

Jake Says: Best Video Ever

Will and I were in the kitchen today doing dishes and he was being a chatty cathy! It was so cute that I had to turn on the video camera. He is getting good at copying tones and sounds that I say to him - it is a fun game that we play. Enjoy!

Member Night at the Zoo

So when William was a baby I decided it woud be fun to join the zoo. Best decision ever. This past Thursday was member night and it was seriously the most fun I have ever had at the zoo (and I have been there a ton of times). Here is a little bit about our experience. We got to see the chimps all up close while they fed them. I learned something about the Chimps that I did not know. In the wild they eat monkeys and other wild animals but at the Tulsa Zoo they only eat fruits and vegetables and their babies nurse for 4 years! That is a long time.

We also got to go behind the scenes at the elephant exhibit. That was the coolest thing. I was so close to the big beasts that the elephants are. I even got to go into their back cages. It was fun because we currently have some of the OKC Zoo elephants staying with the ones here while their habitat is being renovated. They are hoping to mate the two visiting females with our male. Who knows! We may see new babies at some point.

We also got to see the giraffe. Jake told me something sad he learned from the keeper about the female giraffe. She recently passed away from complications after a miscarriage. So sad. I hope they are able to get another giraffe to keep this guy company.

Jake got to get upclose to his favorite animal at the zoo - the black bears! We even got to go into their exhibit where they stay during the day. It really was cool. Those bears are HUGE!! It was crazy to see their size so close. That is one animal we hope we never have to see up close in the wild!!

The rainforest exhibit was also something else (to say the least). Holy cow - when it is night time in there they don't turn on any lights so it was dark. And there were cockroaches everywhere - so gross! We definitely did not take our time in this exhibit. Oh and the bats - ha! They were flying all over the place - not something that usually happens when it is daylight. I ducked as I walked out of instinct even though they weren't really going to hurt me - what a sight! Jake finally got to see the sloths closer too - they were feeding them so they were right there. So cool!

Happy 7 Months Baby!!

I can't believe he is already 7 months old. Where does the time go? This is such a fun age right now because he is really interactive and responding to us. He is getting fed 2 solid meals and is nursing about 6 or 7 times a day. His breakfast consists of some baby oatmeal cereal and some fruit (usually half a banana mixed with whatever pureed fruit I have dethawed for him) and dinner is a variety of veggies (ie whatever is thawed). I am still making his babyfood and I really like it. I will be doing this until he is able to eat what I make for dinner. One weird quirk is that he likes his food cold. He won't eat it right when it is pureed and still warm. The food has to come cold from the fridge or he won't eat it. Ha - Oh well! I am real proud that I am still breastfeeding though. I never thought I would make it to six months but once I did (my first goal) I can't imagine quitting already. I am hoping to make it to a year - that is my new goal. I hope we can make it.

A Day at the Park

We took Will to his first visit to a park yesterday! Man - it took a while to find a park with infant swings. We ended up at the YMCA park in Owasso. He is such a happy little guy.
