Today was a field trip day for Carolyn and she invited me to go this time! It is usually Jake that gets to go so I was super excited that she asked me. Of course, with the crazy cold weather we are having, it was freezing! I think the actual temps were around -5 while there but I don't know the windchill. I assume in the -teens. We went tough all wrapped up in our snow gear and sure enough, we went on a nature walk! It was a lot of fun and we learned all about the evergreen trees, the buds on the trees and bushes, and hunted for animal tracks. We spotted deer and raccoon tracks. We also saw some super fluffy breasted blue jays so I had to ask why. It turns out that they puff up their feathers in the cold weather to maintain warm. Cool! It was fun and I felt privileged that she asked me to go :D
